I Corinthians 9:19-23:
“For though I am free from all, I have made myself a servant to all, that I might win more of them. To the Jews I became as a Jew, in order to win Jews. To those under the law I became as one under the law (though not being myself under the law) that I might win those under the law. To those outside the law I became as one outside the law (not being outside the law of God but under the law of Christ) that I might win those outside the law. To the weak I became weak, that I might win the weak. I have become all things to all people, that by all means I might save some. I do it all for the sake of the gospel, that I may share with them in its blessings.”
.
Having grown up in a ritualistic church for the first 30 years of my life, and then have God save me out of that environment, it was a major change to my thinking. Even in the evangelical church God lead us, my family and I, to join, it had become ritualistic too. God in His wonderful Grace, had to come in and scatter the church, several times, so we would stop looking within and open our minds and hearts to the vast harvest, beyond the walls of the church, that is ready for harvesting.
.
With the name change to BridgePoint Church and the wonderful staff and people that God has put in place here, I believe God can work in our midst, if we will continue to learn how to worship and praise Him. We are who we are because of the Grace of God. We can avoid the “Ritualistic Rut” by having a “fresh” worship time every time we meet together. We can be “all thing to all people” by continuing to offer, as we do, times of worship and praise, opportunities to feed on His Word, bible studies for all ages, opportunities to meet together for prayer, equip and challenge everyone to “Go”, get involved somewhere.
.
Lastly, we need to get over the fact that it’s our time, our money and realize it’s all His and we need the wisdom and challenge from Him to use it as He directs so we truly can “Be All Things To All People, That By All Means We Might Save Some”.

My wife and I recently returned from a trip to the Smokey Mountains. If you have never been, let me recommend it. The beauty of God’s creation is awe inspiring! I can’t wait to ask our incredible, imaginative God, “how’d you do that?”

EASTER . . . then what?

.
The resurrection of our Lord is probably the crowning achievement in demonstrating God’s power and it tops a long list of some pretty amazing feats . . . a list that involves dividing a sea, stopping the earth’s orbit, and even flooding his own creation.  God’s power is to be revered & remembered.  We need to be cautious to not trivialize or limit the resurrection to an event that happened over two thousand years ago . . . it is more than that.  Not only does it secure our salvation & future with our creator when we believe, but it reminds us.  It reminds us that God is truly Immanuel, the God who is “with us.”  It reminds us that the same power that released Christ from the chains of death can free us from the things that “chain” us still today.  We can be free from addictions, bitterness, lust, and every cross that we were never meant to carry.  The resurrection symbolizes the glorious liberty that we as believers have in Christ.  This liberty is ours to claim and to hold . . . we just need to remember Easter . . . THAT’S WHAT!
